EDIT menu>Preferences>Image Windows>Appearance To get rid of the annoying checker grid that you can see in my left image in first post of this thread do the following.ġ. ![]() Why you may ask.(go back read the mini essay again) So here are the solutions to my problem.as you can tell from reading above there are at least two parts to the issue.Īlways save the edited file to a different directory.never to the original fsx directory! No big deal, but annoying in this day and age for a beginner like myself, who doesn't have a clue about this sort of stuff!(even more annoying that i had to bloodywell figure it out for myself after hours of trial and error importing and exporting to and from DXTBmp, comparing with the photoshop dds plugin, and opening aircraft in fsx to see what worked and what did not). The default display settings are not right for editing fsx.dds files so you have to change em. Gimp in its default settings, quite frankly sucks for trying to load edit and save fsx.dds filetypes. If i was to take a stab at it i would say that the is meant to be an error message that pops up saying one cannot save directly to the fsx directory.i found saving to the desktop then manually copying the file over sorted this problem.Ģ. Gimp for some reason cannot remember that it is actually over writing the original file and so when you attempt to reload the file a few minutes later gimp keeps reloading the file it had in its own little file registry, which may or may not be the one fsx is using (even when that file has been deleted in windows explorer and no longer exists in the directory.don't ask me how in gods name it does that, but believe me it does!!!). There are two issues using gimp 2.8 in its "out of the box" format for editing fsx.dds files.ġ. I dont know if photoshop has a similar plugin, and/or if it encounters a similar problem with different compressions of dds images if it does have a dds plugin, but id really like to understand the problem and find a solution using GIMP as im sure it will be of help to someone else. is a dds dxt 5 and the other dds dxt 1 (at least i think that's what they are.im getting a little unsure now)Ĭan anyone with GIMP have a go at these and help me out please? I have included the zip file containing two examples of the same image.1. ![]() I have tried removing the alpha channel, not sure if i have done it correctly as im new at all of this.in any case, it didnt help. You will notice in the attached image that the GIMP image on the left is showing a very low transparency/opacity setting and yet the exact same image opened in DXTBmp is displaying perfectly. dds dxt 5, GIMP displays it incorrectly again. I did a little experiment with the image and found that if i use DXTBmp to convertthe image to a. I cannot increase the actual transparency any higher as it is already at 100%. It appears as if the transparency is set to about 50% on the main surface image.

Tuning your car for speed and realism Dirt 4 is an interesting game. Anyway, the game's not a technical powerhouse by any means, but it runs at ~100fps in 1440p on my RX 480 without a hitch, which is good. Not much of a step above DiRT 3 but to be fair, DiRT 3 had really good graphics for its time (and I think not enough people appreciated that when it released in 2011). But I think it actually feels great to play. I assumed that the driving model wouldn't be super realistic, since it's a mainline DiRT game. ![]() It’s about the thrill, exhilaration and adrenaline that is absolutely vital to off-road racing. DiRT 4 is all about embracing that danger. I think I'm impressed more than anything. DiRT 4 - DiRT 4 out now for macOS and Linux.Motorsport by its very nature is dangerous. For me, the "simulation mode" in DiRT 4 feels close enough. If you're only interested in "pure" rally driving, and the simulation aspect is really important to you, then stick with Dirt: Rally. It's probably the largest and most comprehensive offroad-racing package that a video game has ever offered, in my eyes.īut, Dirt: Rally it is not. I've only put a couple of hours into DiRT 4 so far, but I'm completely thrilled with it. I'll keep playing it, but I'm not really sure if I'd recommend it yet. Haven't gotten to the online part yet but it looks like the events are set up similarly to Rally. "We met with Valve about our reservations concerning the limitations of SteamOS with high-end PC builds, and they agreed they were not issues that could be overcome in time for us to launch a Steam Machine this year," said Reeves. Speaking to Venture Beat, Falcon Northwest president Kelt Reeves said that his firm had been in discussion with Valve regarding the restrictions of the new operating system, and had made the decision on amicable terms, hoping to address the problems in the near future. ![]() Now, the company has revealed that it won't actually be making a Steam Machine in the first round, blaming "limitations of SteamOS with high-end PC builds" for the change of heart. The fact that it can be outfitted with a plethora of custom paint and logo options is just icing on the cake.Falcon Northwest was one of the higher-profile manufacturers to pitch its Steam Machine line when specs and pricing were announced in March, partly thanks to offering the highest price point of all the smaple models: a $4,999 beast of a machine with a custom granite base to stop it falling over. Our $4,848 review unit is a good example of the type of high-end gaming rig you can configure the FragBox to be, packing an overclocked Intel Core i7-7700K processor, dual Nvidia GTX 1080 graphics cards, 32GB of RAM and two 1TB SSDs. All models include a three-year parts and labor warranty. The desktop supports up to an Intel Xeon E5-2699 processor ($3,704) and up to two Nvidia Quadro P6000 graphics cards (a whopping $5,250) each - meaning you can turn it into the ultimate productivity and gaming powerhouse if you have the means. I ran through my usual routine of watching five Twitch streams, downloading multiple games, bouncing between about a dozen browser tabs and running a full system scan, and didn't experience a moment of sluggishness. Thanks to its Intel Core i7-7700K processor and 32GB of RAM, the FragBox breezed through any combination of tasks I threw at it. MORE: Our Favorite Gaming Keyboards Overall Performance The R1 and its dual GTX 1070s just barely trailed behind at 10.9, while the Y710 scored a 10.8. On the SteamVR Performance Test, the FragBox scored an 11, which ties it with other GTX 1080-powered machines for the highest score we've seen yet from Valve's VR benchmark. It might be small, but the FragBox's mighty graphics muscle is more than strong enough for high-end virtual reality. There was a pretty noticeable hum anytime I ran a bunch of tasks at once or cranked up a game. The FragBox scored 9,520 on the 3DMark Fire Strike Ultra benchmark, topping the Maingear R1 (7,881 dual GTX 1070), the Lenovo Ideacentre Y710 (3,240 single GTX 1070) and our 3,707 average. The PC had no problems with the graphically dense warfare of Battlefield 1 at max settings, running the game at well over 30 frames per second at 4K and upward of 120 fps at 2560 x 1440. Our FragBox lived up to its name and then some, with dual Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 graphics cards that handled games in 4K and VR without a sweat. Fortunately, you can customize the FragBox to your wildest desires at the point of purchase (more on that later), and the system's three-year parts and labor warranty means that the company will handle any necessary part replacements for you. The FragBox has some removable screws in the back, but according to Falcon Northwest, this isn't a machine that's necessarily designed for DIY upgrading. Each of the FragBox's Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 graphics cards sports three DisplayPorts as well as HDMI and VGA connections, making it easy to connect multiple monitors. ![]() Here are all the different ways you can lock and unlock your keyboard on computers that use operating systems like Windows 10 and macOS. Her blood sprays everywhere, including across Al's bloodseal, and he passes out. Martel's got Bradley hanging by Al's hand, but Bradley's still got a sword, and he slides it in between Al's head and body to kill Martel. Bradley walks over to Al then, and Martel takes the chance of using Al's arm to grab the Fuhrer by the throat. He tries armoring up, but Bradley's just too fast, leaving him lying in the sewer with four swords impaled through his torso. Greed gets a sense of the trouble he's in, but now Bradley's up in his face and he doesn't have time to armor up (and as noted last ep, he can't armor up and heal at the same time). It works, as Greed armors up his hand only to have Bradley chop it off. Bradley bullshits about how he's getting old and slow, apparently to lure Greed into a false sense of security. Greed wants to know what the highest man in the land is doing down there (so do I). "I can't have that," sez President Fuhrer King.
